Water Facilities in Mira Road and Mira Bhayandar: Major Upgrades Coming Soon

Water Facilities in Mira Road and Mira Bhayandar

Mira Bhayandar and Mira Road are set to get a major boost in water supply. Here’s what residents and homebuyers need to know about the upcoming water facilities in Mira Road and the surrounding areas.

Access to clean and reliable water is essential for every household. Many residents of Mira Bhayandar and Mira Road often face difficulties due to inconsistent water flow or insufficient supply.

Good news is on the way; with improved water facilities in Mira Road being planned, the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation aims to upgrade pipelines, storage, and water distribution systems. These projects promise a more consistent and quality water supply, not just for Mira Road but also for nearby areas like Mira Bhayandar. Residents can look forward to a smoother, hassle-free water experience in the near future.

Current Situation of Water Supply in Mira Road

Mira Road water supply primarily depends on two sources. The STEM Authority supplies approximately 86 MLD, while MIDC provides about 110–112 MLD. This brings the total water supply to approximately 196–198 MLD. However, with the growing population, the required water supply in Mira Road is around 215 MLD, showing a slight shortfall.

Households sometimes experience intermittent water cut-offs and low pressure, especially in high-density, high-rise areas. Some neighborhoods are dry in the summer, which means families must resort to buying tanker water, using storage tanks, or limit their water usage each day.

The Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation water project has implemented measures to improve supply, including additional allocations of 30 MLD in 2009 and 20 MLD in 2014 from Kapurbawdi and Saket. Later, in 2015, MIDC sanctioned another 75 MLD from the increased water stock due to the rise in Barvi Dam’s height. Still, many locals continue to seek practical solutions, making water shortage in Mira Bhayandar an ongoing concern for families and businesses alike.

Overview of New Water Supply in Mira Bhayandar

This initiative complements the upcoming supply of 218 million litres of water per day to Mira-Bhayandar, expected sometime after Diwali 2025, sourced from the Surya Regional Water Supply Scheme. Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) has started water projects to improve the city’s water system. These projects aim to add more capacity, repair pipelines, build modern storage facilities, and improve water quality for residents.

The MBMC is in the process of replacing deteriorating pipes to mitigate losses and ensure consistent supply and pressure throughout the service area. New water treatment efforts are being implemented in order to provide safe and cleaner water available for homes and businesses.

Ultimately, these efforts will lead to several benefits – reliability improvements, better water quality, and fewer shortages – confirming the benefits of new water facilities for Mira Bhayandar homebuyers and existing residents.
